How To Change Text Colors or Sizes

Pre-formatted into your site are the colors and sizes of text that you see when your site launched. If the color of your text shows as blue then it will automatically do that. When you are editing the text in the admin area it may not show to you as blue (or what ever color it is supposed to be) but it will show that way on the front side of the site.

You may also notice that the titles of your pages or certain sections of your pages had headline style text. This is also pre-formatted into your web site and is easy for you to recreate as needed.

NOTE: We recommend you are very careful with how “artistic” you get with the colors and sizes of your fonts.

Remember each viewer of your site will have a different computer that “views” things slightly different based on their individual settings. We take this into account when designing your site.

When you increase the size of your fonts to a size that you think looks “better” that font may show up HUGE on another computer with different settings. So it is better to stick with the pre-formatted settings as much as possible.

Changing Text Colors

  1. Go to http://your-domain-name.com/admin - replace your-domain-name.com with Your domain e.g. if your domain is bobsite.com then it should be http://bobsite.com/admin

  2. Log in using the information in the welcome letter that was emailed to you when your site launched.
  3. Click the large button that says “Static Content Manager” if the text you are changing is on a regular page of your site. If the text is somewhere else then navigate to that location within the admin section of your web site.
  4. The "Static Content Manager" shows you a list of most of the pages that are part of your site. Click the name of the page that has the text you want to change.
  5. Select the text you want to change.
    1. In the small editing buttons click the small drop down arrow to the side of the “Select Text Color” button (Looks like a capital A with a line under it.)
      1. Click “More Colors”
      2. Click on the color you want to change the text to.
    2. Click “Apply”.
    3. If you are changing the color of more than one bit of text on the same page to this color, you only need to do step i) thru ii) once. After that you can select the text and click on the Underlined A “Select Text Color” button and it will keep changing the text to the color you told it before.
      1. Note: This only works on the same page during the same session.
  6. When you are done click “apply” at the top of the page. (Whatever you changed is now live on the internet)
  7. Open a new browser window or tab and go to your web site and look at the page you just edited (From the public’s view).
  8. If all is good, go back to the admin window/tab where you were making changes and click the “Save” button. If there is something you need to fix or change make the changes and repeat the steps above.
  9. Clicking the “Save” button takes you back to the list of pages. To edit another page simply select it from the list.
  10. When you are done making all of your changes and have clicked the “Save” button on the final page you were editing, click the word “Logout” in the top right corner of the page.

When making changes to your web site it is a good idea to open another window and go to the web site as though you were a customer and look at the things you have changed. This way if something didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, you can catch it and fix the problem before the general public sees it.
